Walking and trekking holiday in Dubrovnik and the surrounding area including day trips to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The bases for these trips are Cavat, village area of Konavle and Dubrovnik. During the 7 days we spend 1 night in the medieval town Cavtat, 1 night in typical Konavle village, and the last 5 nights in Dubrovnik town.
Besides walking activities, this trip offers possibilities to explore many interesting cultural and archeological sights, and to taste and enjoy traditional food and family hospitality.
Routes pass through interesting landscapes from Konavle country side hills and villages to the narrow streets of the Dubrovnik Old Town with paths between olive trees and hills on island Sipan to the channels of cave Vjetrenica. You will also pass by cultural, archeological sights and landscapes where nature and history combine in a perfect setting.
Day 1: Arrival
After your arrival in Dubrovnik airport you will be transferred to your accommodation in the town of Cavtat. In the evening welcome dinner with other travelers in the group.
Day 2: Dubrovnik country side Konavle - trekking
After breakfast we start our trekking tour from Cavtat, we follow the path above cliffs, through forest, vineyards and fields of Konavle. On our way we visit many interesting spots and we walking by many old villages, from Cilipi to last village Radovcici. This night we sleep in village Radovcici with a family, upon arrival we have lunch, afternoon on your own, dinner is served at the family home too. The first day we walk max. 15 kilometers, 6 hours moderate walking.
Day 3: Konavle countryside – Mount Snjeznica
After breakfast we leave village Radovcici and we continue to the region of the Konavle hills. We leave our minibus in village Kuna where we start our trekking tour to the highest peak in the Dubrovnik region (1234 m). Trekking length is 5 hours, after picnic lunch in the mountain we return to village Kuna from where we have a transfer to our next destination, Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is our base for next 5 days.
Day 4: Dubrovnik sightseeing and walking tour
We visit and explore old town of Dubrovnik. Our Dubrovnik exploring starts after breakfast with a short walking tour from our Dubrovnik accommodation to the old centre. There we meet our guide who will take us through Dubrovnik’s streets and introduce us to it's rich history. Tour length is 2 hours combining cultural sightseeing and easy walking.
Day 5: Island Sipan – trekking
On our second day in Dubrovnik we discover the Island of Sipan. To explore and to enjoy Dubrovnik it is necessary to go toward the sea, to the Elaphite Island Sipan. Sipan is a fisherman’s island dating from ancient times. In the middle age Sipan was a summer residence of Dubrovnik’s patricians. Today, many traces, monuments, castles and churches are witness of his history. In combination with green Mediterranean vegetation and with just a couple of cars on the island, Sipan is a perfect destination for walking. Our tour begins after breakfast, we walk from our accommodation to port of Gruz where we board the boat to Sipan. The morning walk starts at Sudjuradj. Inland we will have lunch in local tavern and free time on your own before departure to Dubrovnik. Moderate hiking and trekking length is 3.5 hours.
Day 6: Cave Vjetrenica village Zavala, Herzegovina
Trip to Herzegovina to visit UNESCO protected cave Vjetrenica, in village Zavala. The main characteristic of Vjetrenica is cold wind coming from its entrance. This extensive cave system has in total over 6 kilometers of channels but touristy path is 600 m long. The cave is also home to many small lakes and endemic types of shellfish. Trip starts after breakfast with bus transfer, driving through interesting Herzegovina landscape, which takes one and half hour. Visiting cave takes approximately one hour, after sightseeing departure to Dubrovnik.
Day 7: Free day to relax on your own
